It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner). It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops. As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep. The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
